In the spring of 2024 my colleague, Henrik Gøttig (https://www.linkedin.com/in/henrikgoettig/), and I performed a presentation upon “How to develop software for the military and civilian domains within the aviation industry”.
The presentation was performed in the SDU University in Sønderborg in a collaboration together with the Danish engineering union (IDA) and the local software development interest group (Alssund Software Forum). More than 50 developers participated and questioned with interest our topic of presentation.
In the presentation, we covered the topic of how and why the software development at Saab follows the ED-109 and ED-153 (Eurocae) standard for development of systems within the aviation industry.
As part of the presentation, I also dived which tools and technologies we used to meet the criteria of the standards. The tools mentioned in the presentation ranged from Ansible, Docker, Karaf, CI/CD (TeamCity), Arc42 and Robot Framework.
From my own perspective, the presentation was a great success. We got a lot of questions both during the presentation and afterwards.
